Questions About GSoC 2025

Hi everyone,

I’m a sophomore undergraduate this year and I want to contribute to a project in GSoC 2025. I’ve already found this webpage: GSoC_2025 · opencv/opencv Wiki · GitHub

However, I’m still confused about what steps I should take to get closer to the idea that I’m interested in. I couldn’t find specific documentation related to the idea. What should I do next? For example, should I start by fixing some issues even if they’re not directly related to the idea?

I apologize if this is not the right place to ask this question. I would be very grateful if anyone could kindly direct me to the appropriate webpage or forum. Thx a lot!!

I just fixed your link to that github wiki page. Index page to OpenCV’s annual GSoC pages:

I am unfamiliar with the process for contributor applications. you might find more details on that on past pages (e.g. the 2024 page), since the 2025 iteration is still evolving. “Important dates” suggests that OpenCV has been accepted as an organization and contributor proposals will open in less than three weeks.

I believe mailing lists might be involved. some Slack “server” might also be involved.

Thanks for fixing the link and offering me advice.
Think I’m going to find more on that page.
Thx again for helping me!

Your application could have with one of ideas on this page also you can find another useful idea. The main problem i think, you should convince selectors that you are a good candidate to this contribution. Your previous contributions will be a good reference to you.

You’re right, that’s true.
But right now I’m still a little confused of how to do so, because I cant directly contribute to this project.
Wow, I think solving some simple issues for them at first would be a good idea.
Thx a lot!!
