Remove shadows around leaves scanned

I want to remove the little shadows around leaves scanned like these in this folder : Index of /temp/TEMP

and keep intact the teeth of the leaves

Can you use a black background, or do you have to use the white background in the pictures? I imagine a black background would dramatically reduce the shadows.
