Horizon identification

We have several game cameras. When the battery runs out, the clock is reset, which invalidates the timestamp. So we devised a way to estimate the time and date based on the position of the sun, like a sun dial.

We need a line of reference to calculate the elevation of the sun and considered using the road bed, but have been unable to discover a means to identify it.

Lane detection does not work, and other formulations for horizon estimation require a view of the horizon.

Our efforts to identify the road bed are in a Google Colab Workbook. The overall project is in “Motion_Detect-cv”.
